Décor Mates was the resolution to an age-old problem that had been plaguing Creative Director Myra Rothenberg for the last 30 years. Every winter, she and her friends lit festive candles to enhance their holidays (Chanukah for Myra and Christmas for many of her Christian friends). But the joy provided by the candle light and warmth was tempered by the dread of what might follow—the mess of melted wax, the damage to valued furnishings, and possibly even burns and fire.
What to do? Aluminum foil and waxed paper ill-suited Myra’s aesthetic eye. Old plastic mats were even worse. Silver and glass trays? Impossible to clean. And don’t even get Myra started on how to deal with those ceramic pedestals.
For 30 years, Myra has pondered this problem. With all the new kitchen materials out there, she knew a solution had to emerge.
Enter Managing Director Tami Rudnick Rabin. At 50-something, Tami had a lengthy career as a corporate buyer and merchandise manager for some of the nation’s most elite department and specialty stores. She was one of the first people early in her career to understand product development. When Tami brought her large network of business, corporate, manufacturing, and legal professionals to the table, Myra’s idea was brought to fruition.
